One website,
one email,
on your terms

Use a temporary address right away and let it self-destruct when time’s up. Use forwarding aliases for long-term accounts, and keep your real email to yourself.

Temporary address or long-term alias? First ask howlong it needs to last

You may need both types of email in a single day. Choose based on how long you’ll need the account, not out of habit, and you’ll have less to manage later.

Three options, ordered by what you’ll use most

Each option spells out what it’s for—and what it isn’t. Choosing the wrong one can be more trouble than having none at all.

Use your real email to sign in; share only aliases

Sign in without a password by receiving a one-time code at your real email. Then create up to 100 forwarding aliases, with incoming messages sent automatically to your real inbox.

Best forAccounts that receive bills, orders, and notifications over time
Not forA one-time verification code—use a temporary address instead

Open the page—your address is ready

No sign-up needed. A temporary address is generated as soon as you open the homepage. It lasts 3 hours by default and can be extended up to 24 hours.

Best forTrials, downloads, one-time verification
Not forAccounts you may need to recover later—you won’t receive password reset emails after it expires

Address and emails deleted automatically at expiry

When the address expires, it and all received emails are deleted. There’s no archive or trash folder.

Best forShort-term sign-ups where you don’t want to leave a trace
Not forReceipts and credentials you need to keep—save them elsewhere before expiry; they can’t be recovered afterward

Email forwarding

One alias per website. Disable only the one that leaks.

Sign up with an alias and messages still arrive in your real inbox. If an alias starts receiving marketing or scam emails, you’ll know which website leaked it.

  • Password-free sign-in: Enter your real email, get a verification code, and sign in—no password to remember
  • Up to 100 aliases: Create one for each website; messages are forwarded automatically to your real email
  • Disable individually: Turn off one alias to stop forwarding from that website; all your other aliases keep working

Aliases can receive and forward emails, but can’t send or reply to them.

Before you fill out your next sign-up form

Take three seconds to decide how long you’ll need the account, and save yourself the cleanup later.

1

Decide how long you’ll need it

For a one-time code or download, use a temporary address. If you’ll need order updates or password recovery later, use a forwarding alias.

2

Enter the right address

Copy a temporary address from the homepage. For an alias, create one for the website in the forwarding dashboard and include the site’s name so you can identify it later.

3

Get your email, then move on

Temporary addresses are deleted automatically at expiry, so there’s nothing to do. If an alias starts getting spam, disable it in the dashboard.

The rules are right here on the page

3 hours by defaultThe timer starts as soon as a temporary address is created; its expiry time is visible at the top of the page
Up to 24 hoursYou can extend it, but the total time from creation can’t exceed 24 hours
Up to 100 aliasesLimit per account; disabled aliases count toward the limit
Can’t be recovered after expiryThe address and emails are deleted together, and we can’t restore them

Lifespan guide

Compare three ways to use email: how long each lasts, whether it can be extended, and when to switch.

Option How long it lasts Extensions and recovery When to switch
Temporary addressDefault 3 hours from creation Reopen the homepage in the same browser before expiry to restore it; it can’t be recovered after browser data is cleared The verification code hasn’t arrived, or you realize you’ll need the account again
Temporary addressAfter extension Up to 24 hours total Select “Extend” before expiry. Once it reaches the limit, it can’t be extended further; expired emails can’t be recovered For accounts that need email access across multiple days, use a forwarding alias instead
Forwarding aliasAfter password-free sign-in Until you disable it Sign in to the forwarding dashboard to view all your aliases. You can re-enable an alias after disabling it This alias is getting spam—disable it and create a new one for that website

Frequently asked questions

Can I get my temporary address back after closing the page?

Reopen the homepage in the same browser before it expires to restore the address and inbox. You can’t recover it if you switch devices, clear your browser data, or let the address expire.

Can expired emails be recovered?

No. The address and emails are deleted together at expiry, with no backup. Save anything you need elsewhere before it expires.

How long can I extend an address for?

Up to 24 hours total from when the address was created. For anything longer, use a forwarding alias instead.

Can I send or reply to emails from a temporary address or alias?

No. Timedbox only receives emails: check messages sent to temporary addresses on the website, or have alias messages forwarded to your real email.

Do forwarding aliases need a password?

No. Each time you sign in, we send a verification code to your real email. Enter it to access the forwarding dashboard.

Will disabling one alias affect the others?

No. Only messages to that alias stop being forwarded. Your other aliases keep working as usual.

Get an address now; sign in later if you need it long-term

Your temporary address is waiting at the top of the page. To create aliases for different websites, just get a verification code at your real email.
